متن کاملDesign of tunable GHz-frequency optomechanical crystal resonators.
We present a silicon optomechanical nanobeam design with a dynamically tunable acoustic mode at 10.2 GHz. The resonance frequency can be shifted by 90 kHz/V2 with an on-chip capacitor that was optimized to exert forces up to 1 µN at 10 V operation voltage. Optical resonance frequencies around 190 THz with Q-factors up to 2.2 × 106 place the structure in the well-resolved s...
متن کاملLasing from active optomechanical resonators
Planar microcavities with distributed Bragg reflectors (DBRs) host, besides confined optical modes, also mechanical resonances due to stop bands in the phonon dispersion relation of the DBRs. These resonances have frequencies in the 10- to 100-GHz range, depending on the resonator's optical wavelength, with quality factors exceeding 1,000. The interaction of photons and phonons in such optomech...
متن کاملGHz optomechanical resonators with high mechanical Q factor in air.
We demonstrate wheel-shaped silicon optomechanical resonators for resonant operation in ambient air. The high finesse of optical whispering gallery modes (loaded optical Q factor above 500,000) allows for efficient transduction of the wheel resonator's mechanical radial contour modes of frequency up to 1.35 GHz with high mechanical Q factor around 4,000 in air.
متن کاملElectromagnetically induced transparency and wideband wavelength conversion in silicon nitride microdisk optomechanical resonators.
We demonstrate optomechanically mediated electromagnetically induced transparency and wavelength conversion in silicon nitride (Si3N4) microdisk resonators. Fabricated devices support whispering gallery optical modes with a quality factor (Q) of 10(6), and radial breathing mechanical modes with a Q=10(4) and a resonance frequency of 625 MHz, so that the system is in the resolved sideband regime...
